Social Responsibility Policy
Two Anchors Limited
The applicant/licensee advises the District Licensing Committee that the following steps will be taken to minimise the harm from alcohol:
Minors
Training of our staff will be conducted by holders of Manager’s Certificates. All new staff will be trained in their responsibilities under the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012 when dealing with minors. Staff will be trained to request identification if a customer looks under 25 years of age, and will be informed that the only acceptable forms of ID are:
• Passport
• New Zealand Driver’s Licence
• Kiwi Access Card
• HNZ R18+ Card
If a minor attempts to purchase or access alcohol, staff will immediately notify the Duty Manager to manage the situation. To assist staff in estimating customer age, we will use Te Whatu Ora/Health Promotion Agency date-of-birth wallet cards.
We will not sell alcohol to anyone in school uniform or to anyone who appears to be part of a group including minors.
Refresher training will be provided annually, and training records—including staff assessments—will be maintained on site.
Intoxication
Staff will be trained by holders of a Manager Certificate to identify and respond to signs of intoxication. New staff will be instructed to refer any concerns to the Duty Manager, who will assess the individual using the Speech, Coordination, Appearance, and Behaviour criteria outlined in the Te Whatu Ora/Health Promotion Agency Intoxication Assessment Tool.
If a person is assessed as intoxicated, they will be refused service and removed from the premises if safe to do so. Refresher training will be provided annually, and all training records including how staff have been tested, will be retained on site.
Managers
We will ensure that a sufficient number of certificated, acting, or temporary managers are appointed to cover all licenced trading hours.
Amenity and Good Order
We will maintain the exterior of our premises to ensure it is clean, tidy, and free from graffiti and rubbish.
Remote Sales
For internet and social media sales, we will implement the following safeguards:
• A mandatory age verification tick box at site entry and checkout
• A declaration stating: “Please confirm that you are aged 18 years or over and that the receiver of the alcohol purchased is also aged 18 years or over.”
We will display on our website and include on all receipts issued for remote sales:
• a copy of our licence in a prominent place
• the licensee's name
• licence number
• licence expiry date.
Alcohol Promotions
We commit to responsible promotion practices. We will not run promotions—either in-store or online—that:
• Suggest alcohol will be sold at a discount of 25% or more
• Offer goods, services, or prizes conditional on alcohol purchase (including free delivery)
• Encourage rapid or excessive consumption of alcohol
This policy reflects our commitment to responsible alcohol sales and compliance with the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012.
